Extending Supertags

This post presents a use case for extended supertags. It demonstrates how to create a fitness tracker using a core supertag #workout, and several extensions for various fitness activities including running, cycling, swimming, and more. The accompanying 10-minute video demonstrates how to create the system, search for the core supertag, narrow down the results by excluding activity types, and create a dashboard. Furthermore, the video showcases some Tana features such as “build title from fields” and “auto-initialization” that are invaluable tools when working in Tana.

While assisting my friend Ryan in building a fitness tracker, I came up with the idea for this blog post. Ryan required a system to track every physical activity categorically, while also obtaining an overall view of his workouts. To achieve this, I suggested utilizing a core supertag alongside several other supertags to represent each activity type.

For this blog post, I am trying out an old method by incorporating a video. To make it easier to follow along, I have included important details in content bubbles throughout the video. Please let me know in the comments section if you prefer this format or if you would rather have a visual, step-by-step explanation like my usual posts.
